Δ \delta δ represents transition functions (the program of the pushdown automaton), A A A is the stack symbol, a a a is the tape symbol, and p p p represents the state. Since pushdown automata are equal in power to context-free languages, there are two ways of proving that a language is context-free: provide the context-free grammar or provide a pushdown automaton for the language. Pushdown automata can be useful when thinking about parser design and any area where context-free grammars are used, such as in computer language design. This is one of the more theoretical ideas behind computer parsers and compilers. ![]() If there are unbalanced parentheses, the pushdown automaton will be able to return to the programmer that the code is not valid. ![]() If the code is valid and all parentheses are matched, the pushdown automata will "accept" the code. One way to do this would be to feed the code (as strings) into a pushdown automaton programmed with transition functions that implement the context-free grammar for the language of balanced parentheses. Say that a programmer has written some code, and in order for the code to be valid, any parentheses must be matched. The language that describes strings that have matching parentheses is a context-free language. Pushdown automata accept context-free languages, which include the set of regular languages. Six is the recommended starting age and experts also recommend a starting with a non-electric violin. While it is played a lot in classical music, it is an important part of several genres. The violin comes in at third on our list. And like the piano, experts advise age 6 as the best starting age for learning to play. You can play acoustic, electric, or bass guitar. While the piano has been popular for generations, the rise of rock and pop music have attributed to the popularity of the guitar. The guitar comes in at a close second because of its own versatility, cost, and the fact that it can be accompanied or played solo. If your child is interested in piano, starting at age 6 is the best. It will take patience and determination to play well, but once you master it, you may have a good chance at pursuing a career! If you choose to play piano, most experts will advise starting with a more traditional piano over an electric one. The piano is possibly the most versatile of all instruments because it is played in almost every genre and can be accompanied or played solo. It might surprise you to know that 21 million Americans play the piano! No wonder it is number 1 on our list. This ranking of popular instruments is based on several factors, like: ease of playing, cost, versatility of the instrument, and career opportunities. And, if you’re a parent, chances are you want your child to keep on playing the instrument they choose as kids, possibly unlike yourself – maybe you’re kicking yourself for not keeping up with the violin!
